Conférence annuelle du 1 au 3 octobre 2014 : Internationalisation et Objectifs du Millénaires pour le Développement

6th ANIE Annual Conference
1st to 3rd October 2014
Accra, Ghana

(Co-hosted with University of Ghana & Association of African Universities-AAU)

Theme: Internationalization and the MDGs:  What has Higher Education Contributed?
Background and rationale
The year 2015 marks the deadline set for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It is time to take stock of the progress made since 2000 when the UN General Assembly adopted the 8 MDGs to respond to gross inequalities in human development worldwide. The attainment of the MDGs was to lead to the development of a shared future based on a common humanity and its diversity. It was already noted that it was almost impossible attaining the MDGs without the involvement of higher education. The mobilization of both internal and external resources to revitalize African universities to enable them address these challenges has therefore been an important agenda. Following the UNESCO 2009 WCHE, the African Union, African regional organizations, governments and international partners embarked on initiatives to foster and build partnerships with Africa universities with emphasis on the MDGs.
ANIEs 6th Annual Conference addresses the contribution of the University partnerships and internationalization towards the attainment of these goals with a focus on Africa. It will discuss the impacts of partnerships in research and innovations, mobility, governance, capacity building and knowledge transfers as they relate to the 8MDGs. Our focus is on results not intentions, actualities not potentials, practice and not theory.
Sub Themes:
·        Institutional partnerships for research and societal development
·        Curriculum innovations towards the achievement of the MDGs
·        Internationalization, Gender Equality and the MDGs
·        Fostering global partnerships for locally relevant impact
